Why it matters
Details of responsibility and reasoning are easiest to capture while the work is current.
What you will understand
- Distinguish activity from contribution and accountability.
- Keep evidence factual and appropriately confidential.
- Link outcomes to a competence theme without forcing the story.
Core material
A record should allow another engineer to understand the context, your role, the decision or problem, the checks, the outcome and the learning. “Attended design meetings” describes presence. A stronger account identifies what you brought to a meeting, what changed because of it and who made the final decision.
Engineering example
Replace “supported the design” with a precise account of the option you developed, why it mattered and how it was reviewed.
Reflection questions
- What part of the work was yours?
- Could a reviewer follow your reasoning without confidential documents?
Practical exercise
Use the evidence worksheet to write one project entry. Remove every claim you could not defend with a specific example.
