Begin by checking the route to registration, then plan the work and learning you need to demonstrate competence.

THE SHORT VERSION

Learning is what you understand. Experience is work you have done. Competence is what you can do responsibly. Evidence is the account that makes your competence visible to someone assessing it.

ORIENTATION

What happens?

Professional registration recognises competence and commitment at a particular level. It is assessed through licensed professional institutions. Different routes can involve education, Initial Professional Development, an application, review or examination, and continuing development. The sequence and documents vary by institution and grade.

Record decisions while the details are fresh. Explain the issue, your responsibilities, the options and checks, then note the outcome and what you learned. This gives reviewers an account of your own work.

The Forum helps with explanations, examples, planning tools and questions for mentors. It cannot confirm eligibility, approve IPD, sponsor an application or decide an assessment. Check all current requirements with the institution.
