Prepare the Technician submission using current ICE instructions.
Use current Technician documents
Download the form and guidance when you begin and recheck them before submission. The linked guidance is Version 3 Revision 7, dated 10 July 2024; its publisher link was checked on 14 October 2026. The current form governs what you send. Avoid using the Chartered report format.
Limits in the checked guidance
| Item | Technician requirement |
|---|---|
| Attribute account | Section 3: maximum 3,000 words in total. |
| Appendices | Up to three A3 documents or drawings and twelve A4 sides; outside the Section 3 word count. |
| Application file | One PDF, maximum 10 MB. |
| CPD | Next twelve months’ DAP and a PDR: see the CPD guide. |
Recheck the current form and guidance before relying on these limits.
Arrange two sponsors
The lead sponsor must be an ICE Member or Fellow registered at your grade or higher. The second must meet the professional-body and grade criteria in the current statement of support. Give them time to examine your work and submit statements. Confirm receipt before the deadline.
Ask the lead sponsor to challenge unclear claims and arrange a practice discussion. Sponsorship supports the application; reviewers still assess competence.
Assemble and check
- 01
Complete the form
Check account details, employment history, expertise selection and your personal attribute account.
- 02
Attach evidence
Include qualifications where applicable, CPD, permitted appendices, the photograph and individual-requirement material specified by ICE.
- 03
Check readability
Export searchable text where possible. Test drawings and references after combining the PDF. Inspect in black and white.
- 04
Follow the correct channel
The checked guidance distinguishes civil and infrastructure submissions. Follow the current portal or email instructions and retain acknowledgement.
Before submission
Can every reference be found? Do appendices show your work? Does the career history agree with examples? Resolve doubts with the sponsor and ask ICE about adjustments or restricted information in advance. The Forum checklist is a preparation aid, not an official form or acceptance decision.
Final preparation
For personal preparation. Ticking these checks does not confirm competence or eligibility.
